Professional profile
I am a Urological Surgeon with specialist interest in Urinary stone disease, open, robotic and laparoscopic surgery for kidney and ureteric benign and malignant diseases, and Urological trauma. I have a sub-specialist interest in upper urethral tract cancer management. In addition to core urological procedures and male and female functional lower urinary tract symptoms managements. My basic surgical training was completed in the Wales deanery, UK, rotating in various surgical specialties which have added to my core knowledge in surgery. During my training I was able to obtain my MSc in advanced surgical critical care. I received training in urology in the East of Scotland followed by Wales Deanery and developed a subspecialist interest in the management urinary stones and of renal and ureteric benign and malignant diseases. My training was consolidated through a senior endo-urology and upper tract surgery fellowship at the Bristol Urological Institute. During my Urology training, I have completed a clinical PhD in one of Europe’s largest institutes, the Jan Kockanowski University. My thesis focused on diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of bladder cancer. I have gained experience in managing simple and complex renal cancers with open and laparoscopic techniques, as well as gaining basic skills in robotic surgery. I have also gained expertise in endoluminal urology with managing ureteric stones and cancers. I have also gained skills in various prostate surgery techniques such as mono and bipolar TURP, HoLEP, and Urolifts. In addition to managing a variety of other urological conditions, I have maintained a high quality prolific research portfolio which includes being senior editor of a major Urology text book, multiple chapters in various urological books, over 75 peer reviewed publications including 10 Cochrane reviews, and over 65 national and international presentations with multiple prize winning presentations. I was acting Chief Resident at the Bristol Urological Institute and in charge of the junior and middle grade level doctors and fellows. I oversaw the managerial aspects of the on call rota as well as junior and middle grade weekly time tables. Currently I am a consultant in one of the UK’s largest urological units, in Glasgow, Scotland. I have been awarded the positions of Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer by the University of Glasgow, School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing. I am currently lead for the Glasgow Urological Research and Training Unit whereby we continual conduct clinical research as well as organise junior and senior fellowship training programmes.QUALIFICATIONS

I am an Editor for the Arab Journal of Urology, the Central European Journal of Urology, and World Journal of Meta-analysis.
Senior Editor of Blandy’s Urology 3rd edition, expected date of completion 2016, published by Wiley-Blackwell. The book is an update of the 2nd edition. It will contain 41 chapters; all of which will contain up-to-date knowledge on treatment of a wide range of urological conditions. It encompasses all aspects of Urology from benign disease to all the malignant cancer affecting the urogenital system. The authorship was carefully selected from across Europe to encompass notable specialist in each field, so that their experiences can be envisioned in their respected chapters.
